SolidWorks Installation Manager freezes with a white or blank window

SolidWorks Installation Manager freezes with a white or blank window

Security settings are blocking the Installation Manager

If the SolidWorks Installation Manager gets stuck with a white or blank window, Windows is often blocking the execution of HTML files from the installation data for security reasons.

  1. Navigate to the folder where you extracted the SolidWorks installation files.
  2. Go to the subfolder: 'sldim\lang\english\HTML\' and right-click the file 'frameset.html'
  3. Select 'Properties' from the context menu.
  4. On the 'General' tab, at the very bottom of the 'Security' section (DO NOT select the 'Security' tab!), click 'Unblock'.
  5. Click Apply and restart the Installation Manager.

The installation process should now proceed as expected.

The hard way

If the problem isn't resolved with the fix mentioned above, it helps to run the Installation Manager with full (admin) privileges:

  1. Navigate to the folder where you extracted the SolidWorks installation files.
  2. Right-click the sldIM.exe file (this is the SolidWorks Installation Manager)
  3. Select "Run as Administrator" from the context menu (it's near the top).

The installation should now start and complete without errors.
