Description
What's New in Vectorworks Architect 2022
Vectorworks Architect 2022 was the first BIM application built natively for Apple Silicon, and it paired that platform milestone with a ground-up rebuild of the Wall and Stair tools.
- Native Apple Silicon support: Full ARM-native performance on M1-based Macs, with the graphics engine moving from OpenGL to Metal on Mac and DirectX on Windows, delivering roughly two to four times faster performance.
- Rebuilt Walls technology: Individual wall components can now be controlled and set to terminate or wrap independently at doors, windows, and other walls; round and straight walls were merged into a single object type for more consistent reporting.
- Redesigned Stair tool: Stairs can be placed directly between walls or along a floor opening using rectangle or path modes, then reshaped interactively in both 2D and 3D via push/pull and control points.
- Worksheets & Data Manager: A refreshed interface, new search mode, and expanded formula functions make it faster to build detailed reports, schedules, and material take-offs.
- Rendering & visualization: A new GPU-accelerated Redshift render mode (developed with sister company Maxon) and a direct live link to Twinmotion were introduced.
- File exchange: Improved DWG import with Civil 3D compatibility and GIS georeferencing, plus enhanced IFC import/export for take-offs and GIS workflows.
