Vectorworks Architect 2021 was a workflow-focused release built around the theme of simplifying complex design tasks, with a strong emphasis on interface efficiency and true material definitions rather than surface textures.

• Smart Options Display & Quick Search: Tool modes now appear right at the cursor instead of requiring a trip to a docked palette, and a new keyboard-driven search (the F key) instantly surfaces tools and menu commands.
• Project Sharing Server: A new dedicated server application streamlines collaborative, multi-user project sharing across Mac and Windows.
• True Materials: Wall, slab, and other component definitions can now carry real material properties instead of just visual textures, enabling accurate quantity take-offs for the first time.
• 3D Structural Grid: A rebuilt, fully three-dimensional structural grid tool gives BIM teams a consistent grid reference across every view.
• Performance & modeling: A multithreaded VGM cache delivers up to five times faster file loading; Push/Pull modeling was extended to lines, 3D polygons, and NURBS curves; and fillet, chamfer, and shell edits can now be adjusted through direct face/edge editing instead of navigating a history tree.
• Interoperability: New Excel import/export and PDF drawing marker links improve coordination with consultants and clients.
