Description
What's New in Vectorworks Architect 2020
Vectorworks Architect 2020 shifted the focus toward data-driven BIM. The release introduced the ability to reference IFC files directly rather than re-importing them each time a consultant made a change, along with a new Data Manager for organizing IFC and other project data into custom, shareable data sheets.
- Open BIM & interoperability: Live IFC referencing, plus new RVT/RFA export for Revit-based consultants and improved DWG/DXF exchange, including DWG-layer-to-class mapping.
- History-based 3D modeling: Fillet, shell, and related solid modeling tools gained full modeling history, so earlier steps in a shape's construction can be revisited and edited without starting over.
- Data visualization: Object attributes can be driven by data parameters directly in the design layer, making it easier to spot issues such as incorrect wall types or non-compliant fixtures.
- Animation overhaul: A rewritten, object-based animation system (including a new Walkthrough Path from Selection) replaced the previous legacy tools for producing walkthroughs and videos.
- GIS accuracy: Corrections for map projection skew allow BIM projects with geolocation data to be positioned more accurately on the globe.
